Baahubali 2 is continuing its dream run at the Boxoffice and has taken an Extraordinary opening in China on its first day.
The movie which debuted in around 7000 screens on Friday opened to solid occupancies throughout and exceeded the trade expectations by collecting $2.41M(approx 15.5 gross) on its first day.
The Rajamouli directorial is in the All-Time Top 4 for Day1 Boxoffice in China, as far as Indian movies are concerned. The movie is only behind Secret Superstar($6.89M), Hindi Medium($3.39M) and Dangal($2.48M).
Initial Hourly tracking yesterday showed Baahubali2 finishing at around $2.8M but with the Final number coming at $2.41M, it just fell short of the Dangal. Anyways, the China opening is quite an achievement for a Telugu movie.
The movie is now heading for around $9-10M weekend, but the final number will now depend on how far Avengers Infinity War will impact the Prabhas starrer. However, with initial tracking, the Hollywood blockbuster is headed for a $200M opening in the Middle Kingdom.
If Baahubali 2 can hold next week, then we might be looking at around $20M finish for India’s biggest motion picture.
