Bichagadu which released in 2016 with no expectations has went onto become a blockbuster that year. The movie was directed by Sasi and the makers have announced a sequel in 2020. However, the second installment which is titled Bichagadu 2 (Pichaikkaran 2 in Tamil) is being directed by Vijay Antony.
The film had long delays in shooting and is finally nearing the completion. The makers have recently unveiled a sneak peak video and it went viral on social media. The glimpse has definitely created huge buzz and raised the expectations. The film is scheduled for a grand release on 14th April 2023.
Bichagadu 2 is being bankrolled by Fatima Antony and features Kavya Thapar as the female lead. Apart from direction, Vijay Antony is handling music and editing as well.
On the other hand, Shaakuntalam which has decent buzz is also scheduled for April 14th release. The movie release was postponed from February 17th to new date owing to the allocation of screens. Vijay Antony’s film is a sci-fi genre while Samantha’s movie is a historical drama. We need to see whether both these films will manage to get good footfalls.
Directed by Gunasekhar, Shaakuntalam features Dev Mohan and Samantha in lead roles. The film is based on popular play Abhigyana Shakuntalam written by ancient Indian poet Kalidasa. Dev Mohan is playing king Dushyant’s role while Samantha plays Shakuntala role. The movie is being bankrolled by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks banner.
