Hunt and Kalyanam Kamaneeyam which released recently are set set to debut on OTT platforms. Both films have garnered decent responses but failed to put up decent numbers at the boxoffice due to other major releases.
Directed by Mahesh Surapaneni, Hunt is an official remake of Malayalam action thriller Mumbai Police. The film features Sudheer Babu, Srikanth, Bharat Nivas in lead roles. The digital streaming rights were acquired by Amazon Prime Video and it will start streaming from February 10th onwards.
Kalayanam Kamaneeyam is a family entertainer directed by debutant Anil Kumar Aalla. The movie features Santosh Shobhan and Priya Bhavani Shankar in lead roles. Aha Telugu has acquired the post theatrical streaming rights and it will start streaming from tomorrow 10th February.
During COVID pandemic, OTT content has gained the interest of audience and now many are preferring to watch small films on OTT platforms rather than going to theaters. The other reasons could be an increase in ticket rates and also most of the movies are being available for OTT streaming within one or two months of theatrical release. It remains to be seen whether Hunt and Kalyanam Kamaneeyam will garner positive response on the OTT platforms.
