The Kannada blockbuster ‘KGF’ starring Yash continues to rule the box office all over. In the same pursuit, the movie has also been creating new records and this time it is the elite 100 Crore club.
This would be the first time ever for a Kannada film to gross over 100 crores. Baahubali 2, which came out in 2017, ruled at the box office and KGF would be only the second film to earn as much as 100 crores in Karnataka.
The movie came out on the 21st of December in five different languages and has been received extremely well in both Telugu and Hindi. The Telugu version continues to do well at the box office and has proven to be a great gamble for the distributors here.
The Hindi counterpart, which was released by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, has proven itself through numbers by becoming fourth highest grossing dubbed film (approximately 31 crores till date).
Baahubali II, Shankar’s 2.0 and Baahubali have done slightly better numbers previously.
K.G.F is a mega project directed by Prashanth Neel who has certainly risen to new heights with the success of this film. The second installment of the project is scheduled to begin sometime later this year. The team has decided to take a much-needed break before getting on with more work.
