Baahubali has set a benchmark in Indian cinema after its mammoth success and the makers have been teasing a prequel for a while now. Baahubali: Before the Beginning is now finally official.
Netflix today announced that a prequel to Baahubali is happening and the popular streaming series have given a two-season order for Baahubali: Before the Beginning.
The movie will be a prequel to Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion and will be based on is based on the book written by Anand Neelakantan, The Rise Of Sivagami.
The story will revolve around the ‘Rise of Sivagami’ and will cover the origin story of Sivagami’s journey from a rebellious and vengeful girl to a wise and unequaled queen. The first season will span for 9 episodes.
The movie will be directed by Deva Katta(Prasthanam) and Praveen Sataru(Garuda Vega) while S.S Rajamouli will co-produce with original production house Arka Media Works. Deva Katta recently revealed that the prequel will span for 3 seasons, but Netflix have only green-lit 2 seasons as of now.
Rajamouli said this in a statement: “The World of Baahubali is extensive and immersive with strong characters and larger than life kingdoms. The Baahubali series, a prequel to the films, is one such story. I am very excited that this is being adapted as a Netflix original series. With Netflix as our partner, we have the opportunity to create a rich and riveting series.”
