Nithiin’s Maestro is an official remake of the Bollywood superhit film Andhadhun starring Ayushman Khurana and Tabu in lead roles. Merlapaka Gandhi has directed the Telugu version and the film directly premiered on the OTT platform Disney Hostar. Let’s see if the movie lives up to the original. Here is Maestro Movie Review:

STORY: Arun(Nithiin) is a blind man who makes his livelihood by playing Piano and dreams of becoming a big musician. He comes into contact with Nabha Natesh while trying to buy a second-hand piano and becomes a musician at her father’s restaurant.
He eventually meets yesteryear actor(Naresh) at the restaurant and gets a request from him to play Piano at his home as a surprise to his wife Simran(Tamannah). Incidentally, he gets involved in a murder case at Simran’s house. What happens next forms the rest of the story.
PERFORMANCES: Nithiin has nailed it. He gets a role where he mostly has to deliver just through expressions and body language and the actor managed to do it well. Tamannah delivers an impressive performance in a negative role. Her own voice to the character is an added benefit.
Nabha Natesh is neat in her role and executed her job well. Jisshu Sen Gupta puts in an excellent performance. Jabardasth fame Racha Ravi and Mangli were given lengthy roles and they have done it well. Naresh gives a settled performance in his short role and Harshavardhan justified the screen time given to him.
TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT: Director Merlapaka Gandhi has done a decent job with the remake without adding any extra scenes or dimensions to the story. However, he failed to create suspense in the film which was very high in the original.
The screenplay of the movie is decent and you will hardly get bored. The production values of the film are rich in every frame and the camera work is good. Sagar Mahati’s music is decent and BGM is apt for the scenes.

VERDICT: Maestro is a smooth family entertainer with a different story. The movie is engaging throughout and never feels boring. The people who have already seen Andhadhun may not get excited with the Telugu version but it is a decent watch for first-time viewers.
