Director Shankar has decided to approach Bollywood yet again for his upcoming film Indian 2. Having worked with Akshay Kumar recently on 2.0, Shankar is keen on casting another Bollywood actor in his next.
Indian-2, starring Kamal Hassan, is a landmark project which could very well be marked as the actor’s last before his political tenure begins.
The movie comes with great expectations not only for this reason but also as a follow up to the immensely popular Indian (1997). Shankar too is a bit more relaxed after the success of 2.0, after his two previous films (Nanban and I) were received with a lukewarm response.
Reports suggested that Shankar got in touch with Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn for the antagonist’s part but, apparently, both the actor’s turned the role down politely. The reasons are unknown though.
Shankar moved on and approached Abhishek Bachchan for the part and things seem to have gone forward. There hasn’t been any official announcement made in this regard and only the right agencies can let us know.
Abhishek Bachchan has previously worked on three of Mani Ratnam’s films which were made in Hindi. If things materialize with Shankar, this would be the actor’s first Tamil venture and it’d be interesting how he fares opposite the legendary Kamal Hassan.
Abhishek will soon be seen on the smaller screen with his Amazon Prime show ‘Breathe’ (Season 2). The actor made his comeback with Manmarziyan for which he received good acclaim.
