Ishq Movie Review: A passable love drama

Ishq

Ishq has finally hit the screens today after theaters reopened post the second wave lockdown. The movie is an official remake of a Malayalam flick with the same title. The lead pair have promoted the film well and let’s see how it is. Here is Ishq movie review.

Ishq Movie Review

STORY:

Siddu(Teja Sajja) and Anu(Priya Prakash Varrier) love each other and eagerly wait to inform their families about their intention to get married. One fine day, Siddu takes Anu for a long drive on her birthday. Eventually, a man who claims to be a police officer harasses the couple and threatens them about posting their photos online. How the couple will escape that awkward situation and what happens next will form the rest of the story.

PERFORMANCES:

Teja Sajja is impressive in his role and puts in a convincing performance. He was mature in emotional sequences and love scenes. Priya Prakash Varrier was neat in her role and manages to enthral the audience with her screen presence. Ravindra Vijay gets a meaty role and impresses with his negative shade role.

There are not many characters in the film and the other cast who have short roles justified them.

TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT:

Director S Raju has done a decent job with the remake. It was a faithful remake and the director did not alter the scenes and the screenplay. The story is unique and new to Telugu audience. There is only one song in the film Anandamadike and it is picturised well. The music by Mahati Swara Sagar is decent and the BGM is good.

The camera work is good and the production values are decent. The cinematography is apt.

PLUS POINTS:

  • Acting
  • Story
  • Anandamadike song

MINUS POINTS:

  • Dragging scenes
  • Not suitable for the family audience

VERDICT:

Overall, “Ishq Not a love story” offers a peculiar story with decent performances from the lead cast. The first half is a bit lagging and the movie ends with a realistic climax. Though the movie is not suitable for the family audience, it is a passable watch for youth for this weekend.
