Jyo Achyutananda Review: Avasarala mesmerizes with this tale of two brothers

If you haven’t heard of Srinivas Avasarala yet, then please remember the name at least from now on. He came up with Oohalu Gusagusalade in 2014 which turned out to be one of the most entertaining Super Hits that year.

Avasarala is back in the director’s seat this year with Jyo Achyutananda and this time he has come up with a mesmerizing family entertainer which should propel him into the league of star directors.

The movie is named after it’s three lead characters Rohit(Achyut), Shourya(Anand) and Regina(Jyo). It is a simple story of conflict between two brothers but what makes this movie different from others is the treatment.

Rohit and Shourya are apt as brothers and their rapport in real life can clearly be seen on screen and it won’t be an exaggeration to call them the best possible casting for their respective roles. Rohit has struggled so far this year with some mediocre movies, but this role showed his true acting talent.

Shourya too impressed and this was again one of his most prominent roles yet. Regina once again proves herself in a character-driven role. All other characters are well written and there is also a cameo from a well-known actor.

Many say the director is the captain of the ship. Well said, because that’s what Avasarala does here. There will be movies where a big actor, foreign locations, and forced comedy tracks make-up for the lack of depth in the story and directional loopholes, but Avasarala is the exact opposite to this.

His strength lies in his writing and his enhanced directorial skills transform this brotherly movie into some sort of a thriller. The screenplay and dialogues in the first half are just exceptional and the humor throughout the movie arises from the brotherly conflict and doesn’t look like it’s manufactured.

The best thing is that the director stuck to his script without getting into the commercial demands of the movie industry these days. The Cinematography is also top notch and you never realise that most of the movie was shot in a house. What the movie proved is that Tollywood audience still have acceptance for good scripts and Avasarala is a top notch director.

Impressive Scenes: Nara Rohit Tennis court scene, Smiling scene, Ananda Mananda Maaye song, Dual Flashback scenes

Plus Points:

  • Direction and ScreenPlay
  • Comedy
  • Excellent First Half
  • Music
  • Climax
  • Rohit and Shourya chemistry

Minus Points:

  • None(Few people might feel the film is a little slow at the end, but sorry its not)

VERDICT: There will be some movies where all the crafts come together to make a movie memorable and this is it. On the whole, this is a beautiful movie with family values, brotherly bond and Love along with a stellar lead pair and director. Don’t miss this emotional journey. MUST WATCH.
