Manikarnika: Director Krish opens up on Kangana controversy

Manikarnika, starring Kangana Ranaut, released in the theatres on the 25th of January to good reviews. While many have lauded the effort and scale, a few have found it a tad too patriotic for their liking.

The movie has however managed to keep the cash registers ringing, which makes it a decent success at the end of the day.

One glaring fact about the movie is that it has been problem-ridden since the beginning. It’s well known, especially in the Telugu film circles, that Krish was originally supposed to direct the film and things started that way.

But at some point, later on, the director and lead actor Kangana began to have differences which ended up being irreconcilable.

While these differences could be called “creative” in nature, Krish latest revelations speak a slightly different truth. The director, in a recent interview to a popular portal, decided to be candid about his feelings and went on to call the actress’ behavior ‘rude’.

Krish also confessed that he was ousted from the production after having finished shooting the whole film. Having delivered all the whole for sound recording, the filmmaker was on task until Kangana, reportedly, decided to change major chunks of the film.

Kangana, as quoted by Krish, made changes to as much as 40% of the film which according to the actress, resembled a ‘low-budget bhojpuri film’ at the time.

Krish’s confessions do come as shocking but also timely considering the air around the film. Kangana and Krish share the direction credit. Krish is currently busy giving final touches to NTR Mahanayakudu, the part II of the NTR biopic.
