Shaakuntalam First Day Worldwide Boxoffice Collections are Poor

Shaakuntalam

Samantha’s highly anticipated film, “Shaakuntalam,” has gotten off to a disappointing start with a gross of only 5.20 Cr and a distributor share of 2.20 Cr on its opening day worldwide. Despite being released on a public holiday, the numbers are much lower than expected, especially when compared to “Yashoda,” a non-holiday release that generated more theatrical business. The film’s theatrical rights were valued at 20 Cr, but with these poor numbers, it seems like it will be a complete washout from Monday.

Critics and audiences alike have had mixed reactions to the film. While some have praised Samantha’s performance as the titular character, others have criticized the film’s slow pacing and lackluster direction. The film’s cinematography and music have received positive reviews, but overall, it seems like “Shaakuntalam” has failed to meet expectations.

Directed by Gunasekhar, Shaakuntalam features Dev Mohan and Samantha in lead roles. The film is based on popular play Abhigyana Shakuntalam written by ancient Indian poet Kalidasa.

Samantha has a few exciting projects lined up for the future. She is set to star in the upcoming film “Kushi,” directed by Shiva Nirvana, in which she will share the screen with Vijay Devarakonda. The actress is also working on the web series “Citadel,” which is being directed by Raj & DK of “Family Man” fame.
