Shaakuntalam has created decent buzz after the trailer release. The film was initially scheduled to release in November 2022 but it got postponed due to delays in VFX works. The movie was later rescheduled for February 17th release. There have been a lot of reports that film will be postponed further citing allocation of screens in north centers. The makers have officially confirmed that film’s release is postponed.
The makers have took to social media for announcing the new release date. They have unveiled a new poster featuring main star cast and the historical period drama is all set for a grand release on 14th April 2023.

Directed by Gunasekhar, Shaakuntalam features Dev Mohan and Samantha in lead roles. The film is based on popular play Abhigyana Shakuntalam written by ancient Indian poet Kalidasa. Dev Mohan is playing king Dushyant’s role while Samantha plays Shakuntala role. The movie is being bankrolled by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks banner. The movie also features Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Ananya Nagalla, Gautami, Aditi Balan and Jisshu Sengupta in key roles. Mani Sharma has composed the music.
Samantha has scored a decent hit with her previous film Yashoda. It remains to be seen whether she will deliver a hit with this historical movie too.
