Samantha is currently on a break due to a rare auto immune disorder called Myositis. The actress is still taking out time to promote her next outing Shaakuntalam which is slated to hit the screens on 17th February. The film was initially scheduled to release in November last year but it got postponed due to delays in VFX and 3D works.
The latest buzz in the film circles is that the release might be postponed again to a later date. It is now popular that the film will release in multiple languages across India. Due to other language releases, Shaakuntalam has reportedly facing issues in screens allocation and hence makers are considering to push the release date.
Directed by Gunasekhar, Shaakuntalam features Dev Mohan and Samantha in lead roles. The film is based on popular play Abhigyana Shakuntalam written by ancient Indian poet Kalidasa. Dev Mohan is playing king Dushyant’s role while Samantha plays Shakuntala role. The historical film is being bankrolled by Neelima Guna under Gunaa Teamworks banner.
The movie also features Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Ananya Nagalla, Gautami, Aditi Balan and Jisshu Sengupta in key roles. Mani Sharma has composed the music. The trailer of the film has created decent buzz and we need to see whether the film lives up to the expectations.
