We all know that currently the COVID situation in India is really bad and it is affecting all the sectors very badly. There is no exception for Film Industry too. Most of the big and small budget films have been put on hold and many artists are struggling to find work. We are not sure how many days this crisis will go on but here is another shock to Tollywood.
It is known that theatres were running a few days back with 50% occupancy due to COVID and few films managed to get good box office collections. But, Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan has recently decided that 100% occupancy in theatres should not be allowed till January 2022. He also confirmed that there will be no permission for ticket hikes and big movies will not dare to release with 50% occupancy.
On the other hand, many big movies in Tollywood are gearing up for theatrical releases such as RRR, Radhe Shyam, Pushpa, KGF 2 and Sarkaru Vaari Paata. It will be a big blow for the distributors if similar conditions continue further. It remains to be seen whether the makers of the films come up with a new strategy.
