This Sankranti had four major releases namely Veera Simha Reddy, Waltair Veerayya, Vaarasudu and Thegimpu. As the theatrical run is almost over for these films, everyone is eagerly waiting for their OTT debut. Direct Telugu films have performed exceptionally well at AP/TS boxoffice while the Tamil films Varisu and Thunivu had a solid run in Tamilnadu.
The digital streaming rights of Varisu which is dubbed into Telugu as Vaarasudu were acquired by Amazon Prime Video. The latest news is that the film will make its OTT debut on February 22nd, after a month of its theatrical release. The movie will be available for streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. There is no update on Hindi streaming yet.
Thunivu, which is dubbed into Telugu as Thegimpu had struggled at AP/TS boxoffice. Netflix has bagged the digital streaming rights and it will start streaming from February 8th onwards. The movie will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
Vaarasudu is directed by Vamshi Paidipally while Thegimpu is helmed by H Vinoth. Vaarasudu was bankrolled by Dil Raju and features Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. Boney Kapoor has produced Thegimpu which stars Ajith and Manju Warrier in lead roles.
