Veera Simha Reddy Movie Review

STORY:

Jaya Simha Reddy (Young Balakrishna) lives in Istanbul with his mother Meenakshi (Honey Rose). He falls in love with Eesha(Shruti Haasan) and before marriage proposal goes to her parents, he comes to know about his father Veera Simha Reddy who lives in Rayalaseema. On the other hand, Bhanumathi(Varalaxmi Sarathkumar) and Pratap Reddy(Duniya Vijay) are desperate to kill Veera Simha Reddy for the past 30 years. Why they are holding that grudge and what happens at the end remains to be seen on the big screen.

PERFORMANCES:

Balakrishna has nailed it, his performance as a faction leader was top notch. His dialogue delivery and the expressions in the emotional scenes are good as always. Duniya Vijay puts in an excellent performance in a negative role.

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar gave another solid performance as in Krack. Her screen presence steals the show and she dominates Dunia Vijay in some scenes. Honey Rose gave a nice debut in Telugu. Shruthi Haasan looks good and justifies the role given to her. Other characters were brief.

TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT:

Director Gopichand Malineni has done an excellent job with the first half. Though the story seems routine he presented it very well with a gripping screenplay. Action sequences were composed well in the film. However, the second half completely turns sentimental and that too clicks well in parts.

Production values are good and each frame looks rich. Songs are ok, and the BGM by Thaman is good. Cinematography is decent and Editing was proper. Dialogues were good.

PLUS POINTS:

  • Balakrishna
  • BGM
  • Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Duniya Vijay

MINUS POINTS:

  • Routine story
  • Songs

VERDICT:

Veera Simha Reddy is a mass entertainer that has some emotional touch throughout. Though the story seems routine, it keeps you engaged. The performances of the lead actors are top-notch and the film will be an eye feast for the fans. If you like mass entertainers then this film might turn out to be a good watch.
