Rajinikanth’s Darbar has finally hit the theatres. The trailer has shown the Thalaiva in a very stylish and charismatic way, which has increased the hype. Let’s see whether the movie has reached the audience expectations. Here is Darbar Movie Review:

STORY: Aditya Arunachalam(Rajinikanth) is an angry cop and is a police commissioner in Mumbai. He ruthlessly encounters goons and creates a threatening atmosphere among other criminals. Human Rights Commission starts looking at Aditya and as part of their check finds out about Aditya’s past.
They come to know about the joyful past of Aditya and his daughter Nivetha Thomas. Why Thalaiva had become this much aggressive and how he finds the actual antagonist Hari Charan(Sunil Shetty) and finishes him off forms the rest of the story
PERFORMANCES: Rajinikanth, as usual, nailed it again. The movie was a one-man show. He acted very well as an aggressive cop and also performed well in emotional scenes. Nivetha Thomas was given a full-length role and she did justice to her role.
Nayanthara’s role was short and limited. There was no scope for acting for her role. Sunil Shetty’s screen presence was superb but his scenes were very short. Comedian Yogi babu’s role hardly generated a laugh. He was not utilized properly.
TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT: The First thing we have to talk about is Music. Anirudh has done an excellent job with BGM and the songs too were decent. Screenplay was good. Editing should have been done better. Production values are good.
The direction was not up to the mark considering A R Murugadoss is one of the top directors in India. He took an old story and tried to show it in Rajini style, but couldn’t do it in a convincing way.

VERDICT: Darbar is an out and out action entertainer from A R Murugadoss and it’s an eye feast for fans. First Half is good, but the second half is dull and dragging. The audience gets disconnected from the story in the second half.
The climax too was also not up to the mark and ends in an abrupt way. If you ignore the lagging scenes and would love to watch it for Rajini style then it is definitely a good watch for this weekend.
